Guide
Create a seeded fantasy world with coasts, forests, mountains and named settlements. Download an editable SVG for your next campaign or story.
Start with travel, then add a story
Choose a coastal continent when sea travel and ports matter, an island chain for isolated cultures, or an inland region for roads and borders. Generate the terrain first. Place your opening adventure near one settlement and decide what makes the nearest mountain or forest difficult to cross. The map is a prompt for those choices; its cells are not assigned real-world miles.
Use seeds to keep your world consistent
A seed is a short text key that fixes the random choices. Save it alongside the geography setting, settlement count and your custom names. Reusing the same settings recreates the same map in this version. Changing the seed explores a different world, while changing labels lets you keep the terrain you already like.
Turn the SVG into a campaign artifact
Download the SVG and open it in a vector editor to add borders, roads, a scale or hidden locations. Keep one copy for the game master and a separate player copy. Before choosing a travel scale, check how long you want the journey between two settlements to take. Export the edited copy to PDF or an image for your virtual tabletop.
How the result is made
A seeded random number generator builds several scales of interpolated elevation and moisture noise. Coast, forest, dryland and mountain bands turn that field into a fictional terrain grid. Settlements are spaced on habitable land. This is procedural illustration, not a simulation of plate tectonics, climate or watersheds. No generative AI or external map imagery is used.
